AdminForce Ships Powerwall® 3 Network Security System

New Powerwall 3NSS incorporates security measures to fight criminal use of the Internet and provide network protection for companies with limited in-house IT capability

Boulder, CO — November 18, 2002 —  AdminForce Remote LLC (www.AdminForce.net) has announced the availability of its next generation Powerwall® 3 Network Security System (NSS). Priced at $4,700, the new Powerwall 3 includes: one year of 24x7x365 monitoring, automated upgrades, weekly activity reports and a full range of proxy services. It also features an advanced Intrusion Detection System with alarm and early warning elements, plus criminal protection measures to help prevent security breaches and criminal activity before they occur.

Powerwall 3 NSS is designed with cutting edge technology to meet the security requirements of industry and institutional network operations. Charles "Buck" Fleming, Chairman and CEO of AdminForce LLC, says the product's new security features enable even small- and moderate-sized businesses to obtain protection that until now was available only to enterprise operations.

"With today's lack of preventive network security, it's not surprising that Internet criminals are plundering corporate networks for credit card data, personnel records and proprietary information," says Fleming. "Powerwall 3 was created after a year-long development effort by some of the brightest minds in network security in the U.S. Our team has answered the need for an affordable Internet/network protection product for companies with limited in-house IT capability."

Fleming says it's amazing how frequently stories about curious teenagers breaking into a network vault make the news because networks are so ineffectively protected. However, he explains that the continual inability of most businesses to meet basic network security requirements is often simply a question of available IT talent and budget.

Unlike other network security firewalls that often require IT staff trained in security issues and capable of regular monitoring and upgrading, Powerwall 3 offers a quality monitoring protection and detection package that does not require additional IT staff or significant capital expenditure.

"Product development at AdminForce is focused on the active prevention of network security breaches," says Fleming. "Our company's years of experience in remote administration and prevention of criminal use of the Internet has given our staff the skill set needed to develop the advanced features found in the Powerwall 3 product."

Powerwall 3NSS is available at no extra cost to existing Powerwall customers as part of the usual upgrade procedure. For more information on AdminForce Powerwall 3 and its protection capabilities, visit www.adminforce.net/powerwall.html. AdminForce Remote LLC Announces a Breakthrough new Powerwall® 3 Network Security System

Boulder, CO — September 13, 2002 —  AdminForce Remote LLC today announced the release of its next generation Powerwall® product. The Powerwall® 3 Network Security System is the latest addition to the AdminForce product line that is setting new standards of Internet protection. Powerwall® 3NSS is designed with cutting edge technology to meet security requirements of industry and institutional network operations. Powerwall® 3NSS provides a level of network security protection in a turnkey service package not previously available. The design and new security elements of Powerwall® 3NSS will enable moderate- and small-sized business to obtain protection that until now was available only to enterprise operations. Powerwall® 3NSS includes a remote installation element as well as remote monitoring, weekly activity reports and a sophisticated Intrusion Detection System with alarm and early warning elements.

The Powerwall® 3NSS has been created after a year long development program as the answer to network protection for companies with limited in-house IT capability. The new product has been designed for installation with remote services which will provide the constant attention that adequate protection requires. AdminForce has brought together the remote tools needed to give companies a quality monitoring, protection and detection package that does not require additional IT staff or significant capital expenditure.

Charles B. Fleming, Chairman and CEO of AdminForce LLC said, "the continual inability of most business to meet basic network security requirements is often simply a question of available IT talent and the budget to provide bullet-proof security. Most companies cannot get their arms around the network security issue because there have been no quality security systems that fit budget requirements and staffing realities. Firewalls that provide security often require IT staff trained in security issues and capable of monitoring and upgrading on a regular basis. The cost of those requirements has been prohibitive in many businesses until now. Powerwall® 3NSS answers the problem".

Fleming continued, "AdminForce has been active in the development of security answers to criminal use of the Internet for years. Till now most of our product development activity has been directed to enterprise operations and law enforcement efforts. Those activities have provided us with the skill set required to develop the Powerwall® 3 Network Security System. It has never made sense to me that our networks are so ineffectively protected that we read about curious teenagers breaking into a network vault that holds valuable information. It is not surprising that Internet criminals are plundering corporate networks for credit card data, personnel records, and proprietary information. Powerwall® 3 Network Security System is an answer. It is affordable Internet/network protection that meets responsible security concerns."

The Powerwall® 3NSS will be made available at no extra cost to existing Powerwall® customers as part of the usual upgrade procedure.

The complete description of the AdminForce Powerwall® and its protection capabilities can be found at http://www.adminforce.net/powerwall.html. The Powerwall® can be delivered in a rack mount or tower configuration. The Powerwall® will be available for shipment on October 1st 2002.

LinuxForce Inc. announces release of a new Network Security Product

LinuxForce Inc. announced today AdminForce CGI Auto Audit as the newest addition to its line of automated network security products.

Boulder, CO — November 8, 2001 —  LinuxForce Inc. the leading provider of Linux products and migration services to commercial and institutional computer network operations announced the release of a newly developed automated CGI Script analyzer which quickly and economically manages CGI script structure and identifies potential security deficiencies. The product has been named AdminForce CGI Auto Audit.

The LinuxForce Perl and Shell CGI analysis scripts identify dangerous CGI constructs so that they can be fixed. These automated routines allow hundreds of scripts per day to be analyzed with the same level of quality as a traditional line-by-line audit.

A library of metacharacter "scrubbing" routines are provided to assist with the CGI clean-up operations. A team of CGI programmers can quickly adjust the scripts to account for false positives that may be encountered to further accelerate the testing process.

CGI testing can be conducted remotely, so that expensive on-site visits by programmers is not needed in most cases.

Charles B Fleming President & CEO of LinuxForce said: "This product was initially developed in response to the need of a highly prestigious client with a large number of CGI scripts written through the years. There had been minimal attention given to security issues. A need was recognized to quickly and inexpensively audit the scripts and improve security in their operations. The LinuxForce development team responded in record time to meet the clients security needs in regard to their CGI Scripts. Further refinement has produced this product which will now prove useful to a broad range of companies with heightened security concerns".

AdminForce LLC is the LinuxForce affiliate that will handle distribution of the AForce CGI Auto Audit. The CGI Script Security Auditing product represents the latest in a growing product line of Linux based security and remote administration products developed and marketed by the LinuxForce/Adminforce Team.

AdminForce Remote LLC announces the release of its new web-site/server remote monitor.

Boulder, Colorado — August 16, 2001 —  AdminForce Remote Monitor® is a new Linux product developed to provide IT managers with a broader dimension of in-depth information for more effective operation of their web site, network, and related applications.

Announcement of the new product is the latest element in the suite of remote management tools developed by AdminForce Remote LLC. It has been designed to meet the challenge of Linux expansion as the operating system of choice in a growing number of enterprise business and institutional servers.

Chris Fearnley, president and CTO of AdminForce, said "the reports provided by AdminForce Remote Monitor® are automated with a complete range of critical reports given to a client at regular intervals".

"The AdminForce suite of remote management tools include three powerful, sophisticated tools that will provide Linux powered operations with analytic capabilities which were not previously available," Fearnley said.

  1. AdminForce Remote Monitor®:
    • This is an automatic alert mechanism to warn of potential problems with server operations. Information is delivered to a client IT department via e-mail and via a password protected web site.
    • With the careful use of AdminForce Remote Monitor®, the down time cost of IT trouble shooting will be dramatically reduced. Web site speed and accuracy questions are clearly answered and directional information lessens the IT dollars spent searching for answers.
  2. AdminForce Powerwall®:
    • Current firewall protection is costly and too often provides only a time-sensitive period of protection. In its purchase price AdminForce Powerwall® includes an automatic monitoring and upgrade package.
    • Linux has not been troubled as yet with viruses as have other operating systems and their related applications. In fact, the recent Code Red "worm" did not affect Linux anywhere in the world.
    • Frequent virus alerts can be costly and raise client fears for those engaged in e-business, but the activities of "crackers" seeking to break into proprietary information of companies pose a potentially greater threat to a business. Since "crackers" keep developing new ways to attack, AdminForce Powerwall® is continually upgraded to meet their threats.
    • AdminForce Powerwall® is available at several price points which are geared to the individual levels of corporate network and e-commerce protection required. In every case, AdminForce Powerwall® can provide a superior level of protection at greater savings when a price comparison is done with competitor products.
  3. AdminForce Remote Maintenance Service®:
    • This service can be used in many instances to reduce on-site IT personnel costs that are dedicated to fixing operational problems. The combination of Linux as an operating system and AdminForce Remote personnel monitoring network operations can release IT staff to more profitable development activities. Such an option is more effective than dedicating time to routine maintenance and fixes that can more easily be performed by AdminForce Remote staff. This was the first AdminForce service system developed and has proved to be a significant cost-cutting tool.

"Contributing to the importance of the release of the new AdminForce package is its overall economic impact," Fearnley said.

The AdminForce products have been designed to provide significant operational savings to those IT departments who may be investigating Linux as a tool in future computing operations. Additional savings can be realized since the acquisition cost is significantly less than competing products.

AdminForce Remote LLC is an affiliate of LinuxForce Inc.  LinuxForce is the leading Linux consulting firm that has been deeply involved in migrating networking operations to Linux for nearly a decade. The experience of LinuxForce has identified the issues which need to be resolved at the executive management level of major corporations.

It has been the view of LinuxForce that economic commitment to outdated operating systems and security issues have been constantly raised as impediments to a change to Linux.

Fearnley said that "the growing body of industry experience with the savings found in computing operations using Linux is rapidly overcoming these areas of concern".

AdminForce Remote LLC was established to develop products and proceedures that will enable IT departments to make a seamless and economic change to the Linux operating system.

AdminForce Remote Introduces APW-1, the AdminForce Powerwall®

Boulder, CO — April 30, 2001 —  AdminForce Remote LLC today announced the introduction of a new security product which will be marketed as, the AdminForce Powerwall® or APW-1.

APW-1 includes a unique automated intrusion report capability. The Intrusion Attempt Report is automatically forwarded to the client and the AdminForce Remote Monitoring Center. APW-1 includes a full set of firewall control facilities such as packet blocking rules, private IP address masquerading, port redirection, etc. APW-1 also includes service proxies for ftp, web, DNS, CUSeeMe, and more.

Charles Fleming, CEO of AdminForce Remote said "network security will now present a new level of difficulty for intruders on networks that have APW-1 installed." He further said that this product "adds an element of offense to the security issue. Until now, Firewalls have been the modern equivalent of the medieval castle with a defensive siege structure, but firewalls do not have the ability to pour hot oil on attempted plunderers. The modern attackers are hidden behind a maze of network complexity."

Quick and automated detection is part of the AdminForce Powerwall®. The intrusion is blocked and then followed by an automated report to the client. An AdminForce rapid response element is prepared to react to identify the source and follow up with notification of the appropriate Law Enforcement Computer Crime Unit if the client desires this follow up.

The AdminForce Powerwall® is Linux-based and can include content filtering and automated reporting, if this is a client requirement. The genesis of the product was designed by LinuxForce, the development affiliate of AdminForce Remote, to meet the needs of large enterprise clients. The product is being brought to market at a price level that will make it available to businesses that previously could not afford this sophisticated level of network protection.

LinuxForce Inc. Launches New Company, AdminForce Remote LLC

Boulder, CO — March 29, 2001 —  AdminForce Remote LLC has been formed as a new, spin-off company from its parent, LinuxForce Inc., and Christopher J. Fearnley has been named president and chief technology officer of the new company.

Announcement of the corporate decision was made here today by Charles B. Fleming, chairman and chief executive officer of LinuxForce Inc.

"The split into two companies is market driven and separates development from maintenance functions," Fleming said. "The focus on reducing product and service costs to customers made it clear these goals could best be met by activities derived from different skill sets," he said.

Fearnley has served as executive vice president and chief of technology at LinuxForce since its inception. He has been involved as a leader in the Linux and Debian GNU/Linux communities for eight years.

Fearnley said the new entity is focused on on-going systems maintenance to provide a low cost per managed server.

He said the family of AdminForce Remote® products and services provide systems administration, monitoring and a sophisticated automated reporting system for Linux-based Enterprise Web Platforms, e-commerce systems, and other enterprise servers.

Fearnley said "the product line and services can be delivered at new levels of savings for IT customers."

"AdminForce Remote is focused on providing the technical and customer support infrastructure needed for large-scale application of the remote systems management procedures that LinuxForce developed," Fearnley said.

"By focusing on this infrastructure, we can lower costs and increase quality for systems management that was not possible before," he said.

"The new company's focused sales and support staff will be able to meet the needs of our on-going clientele more efficiently," Fearnley said.

LinuxForce Introduces a New Product for Remote Systems Administration, Named AdminForce Remote®, Following Successful Six-Month Development and Testing

Philadelphia, PA — September 11, 2000 —  LinuxForce.net today announced its newest product, AdminForce Remote®, that will provide significant administrative cost savings and operating efficiencies to a broad range of business, institutional, educational, and industrial computing systems.

"AdminForce has been successfully developed and tested over a six month period as a versatile remote system administration product," said Charles B. Fleming, president of LinuxForce.

"AdminForce is a tool for proactively insuring system health and operating efficiency," Fleming said.

A carefully monitored refinement of the new product took place at several different sites with a wide range of servers being remotely administered. AdminForce was highly praised by the businesses and institutions that participated as development sites.

AdminForce features comprehensive local and remote monitoring; IP, TCP, and UDP service availability monitoring; anomaly alerting and investigation; application of LinuxForce's advanced maintenance and security policies and procedures, as well as comprehensive reporting on work performed and the systems vital statistics.

Fleming noted that IT professionals can focus on application enhancements with the assurance that a stable AdminForce platform supports them.

The IT professionals with servers in-house as well as those collocated found that using AdminForce reduced maintenance costs and that unscheduled down time had been significantly reduced.

Fleming said that the AdminForce monitoring systems would be structured and located to insure redundancy for the client base.
